3R-LAB

Das "3R"-Prinzip, welches bereits im Jahr 1959 durch das Buch „The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique” (W.M.S. Russell and R.L. Burch) Einzug in die Versuchstierkunde fand, zielt darauf ab, 

  • Tierversuche wo immer möglich zu ersetzen (Replace),
  • die Zahl der Versuchstiere zu verringern (Reduce),
  • das Leiden von Tieren in Experimenten auf das unerlässliche Maß zu beschränken, sowie Methoden der Versuchsdurchführung und Tierhaltung zu verbessern (Refine).

Die Core Facility Animal Models versteht das 3R-Prinzip nicht nur als rechtliche Anforderung (2010/63/EU), sondern auch als ethische Verpflichtung. Um dieser Verpflichtung gerecht zu werden, fördert die CAM das Tierwohl über die gesetzlichen Vorgaben hinaus durch die Optimierung von Haltungsbedingungen, Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildungsveranstaltungen !, Einsatz von modernsten nicht-invasiven Technologien, sowie ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit im Bereich der Versuchstierkunde.

Darüber hinaus forscht die CAM aktiv zu Themen der Versuchstierkunde und des Tierschutzes, ganz im Zeichen des 3R-Prinzips.

 

[ENG.] The "3Rs" principle, introduced into laboratory animal science in 1959 in the book "The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique" (W.M.S. Russell and R.L. Burch), aims to

  • replace animal experiments wherever possible (Replace),
  • reduce the number of animals used in experiments (Reduce),
  • limit the suffering of animals in experiments to the indispensable level, by improving both experimental and animal husbandry conditions (Refine).

The Core Facility Animal Models understands the 3Rs principle not only as a legal requirement (2010/63/EU), but also as an ethical obligation. To meet this obligation, the CAM promotes animal welfare beyond the legal requirements through the optimisation of husbandry conditions, education and training events, the use of modern non-invasive technologies, as well as voluntary work in the field of laboratory animal science.

In addition, the CAM actively conducts research on topics related to laboratory animal science and animal welfare, in line with the 3Rs principle.
