Core Facility Animal Models
The Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) is a scientific institution within the Biomedical Center (BMC) of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, located at the Campus Martinsried. It is a state-of-the-art animal facility, equipped to house mice, rats, rabbits, zebrafish and frogs. Researchers from BMC groups and other academic institutes can use the facility for their experiments with animal models according to the strict regulatory framework of German and European legislation. A team of dedicated and experienced veterinarians, laboratory and animal technicians is there to maintain high welfare and hygiene standards, and support researchers in any way possible.
Our main goal is to ensure that the 3R principles of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement are continuously implemented. This not only serves the responsibility of optimizing care for the animals, but also the quality and validity of experimental results.
Besides our understanding as a core facility providing research services, independent projects are carried out by the CAM scientists.
