Die Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) ist eine wissenschaftliche Einrichtung innerhalb des Biomedizinischen Centrum der LMU. Sie bietet sowohl den Arbeitsgruppen des BMC als auch Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern anderer Einrichtungen der LMU eine Plattform, um grundlagenorientierte und präklinische Forschung an Tiermodellen im Rahmen der strengen gesetzlichen Vorgaben durchzuführen (z. B. TSchG., TierSchVersV., EU-Richtlinie 2010/63/EU). Die Anlage bietet modernste und artgerechte Haltungsbedingungen, um einen verantwortungsvollen und ethischen Umgang mit Versuchstieren sicherzustellen.

Über allem steht das Leitprinzip, kontinuierlich auf die Verringerung, den Ersatz und die Verbesserung von tierexperimentellen Arbeiten hinzuwirken (3-Rs Principle), sowie die Haltungsbedingungen zum Nutzen der Tiere und der Qualität wissenschaftlicher Resultate beständig zu opimieren.

[ENG.] The Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) is a scientific institution of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, located in the Biomedical Center (BMC). The CAM offers both research groups of the BMC and scientists from other LMU institutions a platform where they can carry out basic and preclinical research on animal models, in full compliance with the strict legal requirements applied in animal research. The facility provides for the most modern and species-appropriate housing conditions to ensure a responsible and ethical handling of laboratory animals.

Above all, the guiding principle of the Core Facility Animal Models is to continuously work and actively research to reduce, replace and refine animal experiments (3Rs Principle), as well as to constantly optimize our husbandry conditions for the benefit of the animals and the quality of scientific results.
